Sobriety.

sobriety

On New Years Eve, me and my roomate Ager decided to give the drinking a  rest, as an exercise in restraint, moderation and well, let’s face it, health.I also decided to give up another one of my vices: weed smoking. If anybody knows me, they know I enjoy a good smoke and drank, and it’s more often than not been a part of most of my social activities (laaaaame, I know) . Well, this month, it’s sayonara. Can’t say it’s a bad decision either.

Week 1 and I’m feeling pretty upbeat about my decision, but there have been quite a few moments of doubt, temptation (BBQ or Boogaloo launch) party and contempt (“FUCK YOU JANUARY!”).

Don’t get it twisted, there have been only a handful of moments where I don’t remember anything, or have ended up crossing the line. It’s just that I crave the clarity that only sobriety (minus some contact smoke) can provide. Not to mention hereditary alcoholism runs in my family, and I’ve been blazing it down for long enough to know when to take a break. Also, even Kush was becoming “m’eh” to me.

Thanks to all that have had encouraging words ( Shamina,Ace, Ager , Johnbronski, Arcee- I see y’all) and shared a club soda/San Pel/non-alcoholic beer with me.

BTW: this photo was taken a coupla days ago, so there’s some non-x’ed out dates- big up to Che for the  calendar, too. Shit is type-fire.

And yes, those are my “handstyles” (if you can even call ‘em that LOL).

Anyways, I hope this inspires y’all to think about not only the substances that you put in your body, but the affect that they will have not only on your physical, but also your mental. Big up to Be as well for being one of the (many) catalysts for this train of thought.
